The Holy Ka’ba derives its name from the Arabic word Ka'ab (meaning Cube) which directly refers to its near-cuboid structure. Allah Almighty ordained his servant Abraham (PBUH) to build the shrine there to worship one God. Abraham then uncovered the original foundations of the Ka’aba built by Adam (PBUH) and with the help of his son Ishmael (PBUH) constructed the Ka’aba on the same foundations.
